This week’s cover crush is In the Magician’s House by D.M. Potter. This is an interactive children’s book for grades 3-6 (However, I really enjoyed it too!)
The cover is fantastic. It has that Harry Potteresque feel to it that makes the reader want to dive right in. The stairs in the background add mystery, and the little frog gives it that magical whimsy. This one is sure to be tucked in the backpack to share with buddies at school.
Here is a brief synopsis:
Dreams swirl around in the Magician’s house like dust in the corners of other houses. Little stories get stuck in the crannies. Just for a moment, while you are sweeping, you can find yourself running across a green field, steering an iron horse through twisty roads, or picking ripe strawberries in a bright, warm field. Other times you are transported to different places, so you watch where you step.
Some mornings, just getting to breakfast is an adventure.
What readers have said:
This book is good, and I mean immersive, elegant, well-written good.
Great for children who don’t like reading as much as they should.
Includes a bonus story as part of the 2016 paperback launch.
